Title Testing Technician I (Temporary Part-Time)
Position Title Testing Technician I (Temporary Part-Time)
Department PSCC-Academic Testing & Adult Education
Position Summary

To assist in administering testing programs for standardized and in-house exams and performs work as required.

Flexible hours including some day, evening and possible weekends

Location varies, including Hardin Valley and one or more site campuses.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

85% Assists with Test Administration
A. Proctors tests (seats examinees, helps examinees log-on to computers, starts timing instruments as needed, collects completed tests and testing materials, watches examinees to ensure administration conditions are met, etc.) in the Testing Centers under the supervision of a Testing Technician II or Test Administrator.
B. Assesses test delivery methods (paper/pencil, Internet, eCBT, essays, etc.) and starts students on testing process.
C. Assists with timing of exams by using portable timers and recording timing information.
D. Helps maintain security and accountability of tests before, during,and after testing in compliance with established guidelines.
E. Utilizes surveillance equipment and walk-through monitoring to assure student compliance with test policies and to prevent test irregularities.
F. Assists with preparing an Incident Report to document testing irregularities, discrepancies or dishonesty and forwards report and copies of pertinent material to faculty and Testing Supervisor.
G. Helps organize paper-pencil exams and files completed tests.

10% Test Office
Staffs Testing Office and answers phones, takes test appointments, files documents, faxes materials, makes copies, etc.

5% Other
Performs other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

A. High School Diploma required.
B. Knowledge of community college setting and standardized testing instruments and procedures.
C. Testing Center skills including inputting data on computers, using timers, filing data, writing reports.
D. Light lifting of test materials, bending, and active supervision (walking around room, visual and auditory surveillance) required.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics

A. Dependable and reliable.
B. Ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and faculty to implement testing programs.
C. Ability to follow written and oral directions.
D. Ability to use move around the testing room and to use visual and auditory senses to protect the integrity of the testing environment.
E. Ability to maintain records and organize information.

Ability to use computers, terminals, copiers, facsimile machine and phones.
