The Dean of Business and Technologies is a full-time, fiscal year position reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
The Dean provides leadership, management, planning, and advocacy for faculty and programs within this division.
The area consists of: Industrial and Engineering Technology, Business and Management, Information Technology, CISCO Regional Academy and Tennessee Small Business Development Center.
|Typical Duties and Responsibilities||
Oversees the division’s academic programs and services in the credit area, ensuring both their integrity and currency; in concert with the faculty, develops and implements a plan for on-going program accountability and development which employs the concepts of institutional effectiveness.
Addresses the needs of faculty and chairs’ professional development and renewal.
Develops guided career pathways and chairs’ professional development and renewal.
Serves as the Division’s accreditation liaison for both regional and specialized accreditation, program reviews, and academic audits.
Provides leadership for the development and implementation of an effective program for managing the Division’s enrollment and retention.
Ensures the Division’s compliance with all SACSCOC Standards and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies governing the area of academic affairs.
Collaborates with Workforce Development area of the College in meeting the education and training needs of service region business, industry, and government for a world class workforce.
Models and supports the innovative use of technology.
Networks with community agencies by serving on various committee/boards.
Serves on Division and College wide committee; collaborates with area colleges to articulate programs.
Develops and monitors Division’s budgets including grants.
Reviews class schedules each semester.
Supervises all evaluations conducted by the Division.
Master’s degree in one of the disciplines supervised or related fields, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
Minimum of (3) three years administrative experience (e.g. Dean, Associate or Assistant Dean, Division Director or Chair or Coordinator), preferably in a community college setting, and (5) five years distinction in full-time teaching in one of the academic disciplines in a higher education institution.
Doctoral degree preferred.
