Position Summary

The Microcomputer Technician works under the supervision of the PC Support Manager and helps maintain all microcomputers for Motlow. The responsibilities include installing new microcomputers, installing software, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and installation and termination of network wiring.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintenance and repair of all microcomputer hardware and software on the Motlow Campuses.

Technical assistance for all microcomputer users on the Motlow Campuses.

Maintaining and ordering replacement parts for microcomputers and related hardware.

Installation and setup of all new or re-allocated microcomputers including network
wiring and internet connectivity.

Installation of any new operating systems or functional software that has been
requested and approved through the proper channels.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma plus 4 years experience working with the repair and setup of microcomputers, or an Associate’s degree/Technical Certificates plus 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience must include a working knowledge of microcomputers that includes hardware repair, software installation, and troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Must be able to lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds and climb ladders consistently. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others.
