Position Summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural, public, open—access college. Southwest began operation on July 1, 2000, through legislation that consolidated Shelby State Community College and State Technical Institute at Memphis. This is a full-time grant-funded position reporting to the Director of Director of Externally Funded Programs and Associate Vice President of Workforce Development. The Project Coordinator position will be responsible for implementing and managing the U.S. Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) program grant: the Greater Memphis Alliance for a Competitive Workforce. This role will collaborate closely with three other consortium 2-year colleges across two states (Tennessee and Arkansas), local workforce and economic development partners, business entities, and internal workforce and academic departments in support of the GMAWC program. This position will also be the liaison in reporting and following consortium directives as specified by the overall grant Project Manager. This is a full-time, grant funded position.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

The GMACW Project Coordinator will support all aspects of the GMACW grant program including:

  • Participant outreach and recruitment efforts
  • Academic advising support
  • Coordination of academic/training programs and support services
  • Facilitation of job placement of graduates
  • Participant tracking and outcomes reporting
  • Collaboration with the staff in the Grants office and Academic Affairs to ensure all aspects of grant activities, including fiscal reporting, procurement and budgeting are delivered.
  • Ensuring participant data is maintained in designated on-line data system and participant files
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum required.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience managing projects that involves multiple stakeholders or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in strategic planning and project management is highly desirable. Experience with manufacturing and/or transportation, distribution, and logistics (TDL) technical training preferred.
  • Grant/fiscal management experience also preferred
