Position Summary

Motlow State Community College, the fastest growing in Tennessee, is seeking energetic and student-focused Mechatronics faculty for our Fayetteville campus. The College offers day, afternoon, night, weekend, online, hybrid, and accelerated courses at four campuses. The faculty member will conduct classes and labs in compliance with Department of Career Readiness and Motlow policy. They will work as part of a team to maintain academic integrity, and curriculum development. Faculty teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per fall and spring semesters. This is a twelve month position; summer work is required.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Teaches courses as assigned in accordance with the catalog description and the appropriate course syllabus
• Submits all requested paperwork timely and complete
• Responds quickly to the Dean’s requests
• Participates in graduation exercises
• Supports curricular and extracurricular activities within the college
• Stays abreast of current developments in the teaching discipline
• Collaborate with mechatronics faculty, curriculum coordinator, and academic leadership about curricular and programmatic issues and needs
• Assist with curriculum development and lab development
• Teach dual enrollment classes as needed
• Travel to multiple campuses as needed
• Work as part of a team
• Teach a minimum 15 credit hour load in fall and spring semesters
• Advise and mentor students about academic and career goals
• Serve on college committees
• Post and maintain office hours with adequate time for academic advisement with students; out-of-class meetings with students and colleagues; and faculty, division, and departmental meetings

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Technology is required.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree in a relevant field will be considered.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment designing and/or maintaining mechatronic (electro-mechanical systems under computer control) systems is preferred. Specific experience in electronics is desirable with additional experience in PLC programming, closed loop and open loop process controls, microprocessor control systems, fluid power systems and controls, robotics and automated manufacturing systems.

Previous teaching experience is preferred.
