Position Summary

This position focuses on the architecture, design, development, support and administration of enterprise systems and networking, with an emphasis on cloud infrastructure. The position requires distinguishable experience with networking, routing, switching, security and virtual infrastructure focusing on Microsoft Azure’s platform. Participates in the prioritization of core services and new projects and services. As necessary, performs any other relevant duties to aid in the success of the organization. Can deal with multiple tactical aspects of IT Infrastructure and understands its strategic impact as well as assist with level 2 to level 3 technical problems. This position requires an individual who is well-rounded, with dedication, attention to detail, and high energy to operationalize ideas.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the collection of requirements and performing gap analysis of project requests as it relates to Infrastructure from the planning stages to implementation.

Based on best practices implement laaS, PaaS, SaaS technologies, cloud management tools, and network virtualization technologies to support initiatives of the system office.

Develop Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new architectures and solutions.

Identify and champion organizational and process changes that support automated cloud provisioning; assist with the creation and maintenance of standard cloud computing policies, operating procedures, and overall documentation.

Ability to rack and stack/connect various IT hardware components and perform necessary cable management procedures with minimal supervision. Configure network devices, servers, and storage devices with minimal direction/supervision.

Contribute to and assist with the implementation of the departmental technology roadmap.

Develop and maintain broad awareness of the hardware, software, and networking components of the system office’s ERP architecture.

Resolves issues working directly with customers, peers, and third parties.

Stay up-to-date on current and future Infrastructure technologies, capabilities and trends. Identifies and attends professional training sessions and workshops to increase knowledge in related areas.

Create documentation for completed projects that can be used by support teams for future troubleshooting. May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required;
Five years of professional experience with common infrastructure platforms;
Demonstrated experience migrating, deploying, operating, and maintaining compute, network and storage in the Microsoft Azure environment;
Implementation experience with Cloud IaaS/PaaS, and SaaS;
Experience working on multiple concurrent projects

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure;
Azure IAAS – Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks and Traffic Manager, Identity Services with Azure Active Directories;
Technical knowledge of virtual infrastructure with VMWare and/or HyperV;
Azure Active Directory;
Proven knowledge of layer 2, layer 3 switching, VoIP QoS, SIP, LAN, WAN, and VLAN standards;
Experience with high availability, multi-tenant cloud based services in a distributed deployment supporting disaster recovery and continuity of operations;
Oracle database working experience/knowledge an added advantage;
Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft enterprise infrastructure technologies;
Advanced knowledge and skills in ITIL or ITIL related concepts;
Knowledge of managing Cisco video endpoints via Cisco TMS and/or Cisco CUCM;
Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource Planning products;
High energy, strong work ethic, and able to perform within condensed timeframes; and
Able to establish, maintain and follow documented processes and procedures

Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity of data, systems and security per mandated requirements, such as HIPPA, PHI, PII, FERPA, PCI, etc.;
Knowledge on RDBMS concepts, architecture;
Strong knowledge on UNIX/Linux (RHEL) virtual machine lifecycle and well as contained based compute environment orchestration;
Working knowledge of LAN/WAN design and implementation, operations, management, and security;
Superior analytical and problem-resolution skills, with attention to details and root cause analysis.
