Position Summary

Motlow State Community College, the fastest growing college in Tennessee, is seeking an energetic and student-focused Computer Science faculty member to teach primarily at its Smyrna campus. Motlow State Community College offers day, afternoon, night, weekend, online, hybrid, and accelerated courses at four campuses. The faculty member will conduct classes in compliance with Department of Business and Technology and Motlow policy. They will work as part of a team to maintain academic integrity, and curriculum development. Faculty teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per fall and spring semesters.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Teaches courses as assigned in accordance with the catalog description and the approved course syllabus
• Submits all requested paperwork timely and complete
• Responds quickly to the Dean’s requests
• Participates in graduation exercises
• Supports curricular and extracurricular activities within the college
• Stays abreast of current developments in the teaching discipline
• Travel to multiple campuses as needed
• Teach dual enrollment classes as needed
• Work as part of a team
• Teach a 15 hour load per semester (summers voluntary)
• Advise and mentor students about academic and career goals
• Serve on college committees
• Post and maintain office hours which provide adequate time for academic advisement with students; out-of-class meetings with students and colleagues; and faculty, division, and departmental meetings.
• Collaborate with departmental faculty, curriculum chair, and academic dean about curricular and programmatic issues and needs

Required Qualifications

Applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science from a regionally accredited college or university or a Master’s degree in any field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Computer Science from a regionally accredited college or university by appointment date.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidate with an additional 18 graduate hours in Business, Accounting, or Information Systems and course work or experience in cyber security.
