This is a full-time, fiscal year permanent position reporting to the President of the College.

The Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness (VPIE) will work closely with the President and internal and external stakeholders to redesign, reinvent, and reset the organizational culture and image of the College.

The VPIE will also provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the College has the proper operational controls, systems, and policies and procedures in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

Areas of supervision include; Planning and Assessment, Institutional Research, Strategic Communications and External Affairs, Marketing and Special Events, and Strategic initiatives.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

1. Directs the planning, budgeting, and administration of the Office of institutional Effectiveness;

2.Overseeing the development, implementation, and budgetary alignment of an integrated strategic plan.

3. Overseeing and aligning the College’s data collection and dissemination process to inform, support, and drive strategic planning and data-informed decision making;

4. Monitoring the progress of strategic goals and initiatives;

5. Assisting the President in collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to develop an effective system of shared governance and accountability and in fostering a healthy and sustainable organizational culture.

6. Providing regular counsel and support to the President regarding all areas of the College ensuring that information is provided in an accurate manner to facilitate decision making;

7. Collaborating with the President to develop and foster strategic partnerships and alliances with external stakeholders;

8. Representing the President at public events, as appropriate;

9. Overseeing the development of an effective strategic communication and marketing infrastructure that ensures that internal and external stakeholders are well-informed and engaged in the life of the College.

10. Ensuring that the College follows all federal, local, and state laws, and College and Tennessee Board of Regents policies and procedures and adheres to SACSCOC accreditation standards and policies.

11. Designs, develops, and implements strategies to assess and improve the quality and effectiveness of all areas of the college;

12. Coordinates college-wide surveys including development, administration, analysis, and the dissemination of results;

13. Oversees reporting to state, regional, and federal agencies;

14. Coordinates internal functions related to environmental scanning, instructional program review, research review, and unit level assessment;

15. Coordinates responses to ad hoc requests for information;

16. Serves on college-wide committees and councils;

17. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in related area;

5 years experience in related leadership role;

Strategic planning, development and implementation experience;

Experience analyzing and interpreting data;

Experience presenting information and summary reports to the public;

Understanding of the community college philosophy and mission.

Preferred Qualifications

More than five years related senior-level management experience in higher education;

SACSCOC experience;

Experience leading large-scale organizational change initiatives.
