Full-time employees at Southwest work 37.5 hours per week. Benefits include health insurance, annual and sick leave, tuition assistance and retirement. Salary is commensurate with colleges pay scale. Position Summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural, public, open—access college. Working under the general supervision of the Career Center Manager. Responsible for the development, implementation and execution of workforce solutions that assists businesses with their recruiting, assessment and customized training needs.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides business relation services, oversees Workforce Investment Network (WIN) services provided to businesses, and provides compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Recruit companies to post their job openings with the Career Center. Interacts with and addresses the needs of senior level company executives, with an emphasis on helping HR executives meet their hiring goals.
  • Maintains a “seamless service delivery system” with WIN’s governmental, economic development, public relation and agency partners. Works with training providers to assist job seekers with making educational and vocational choices. Promotes life long career development to job seekers and works with employers to aid in job placement and development.
  • Participates in the economic development activities of area Chamber of Commerce organizations, and County government, serving as the main workforce development resource for companies receiving PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Tax) and other tax incentive benefits.
  • Develops opportunities with area business for incumbent Worker Training (IWT) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) projects. Provides assistance in implementing and administering IWT and OJT contracts.
  • Provides intensive career transition assistance in the form of regularly convened Job Clubs by utilizing “best practices” from across the country. Develop potential job candidate’s skill-sets in order to meet the employer’s staffing needs maintaining the ultimate focus on connecting as many unemployed individuals as possible with livable wage jobs.
  • Plans and organizes Career/Job Fairs to assist businesses with their recruiting efforts and participates in area Career/Job Fairs, including setting up displays, and making presentations to participants regarding the WIN’s services provided for the job seeker.
  • Prepares, reviews and documents related policies and procedures in a timely and accurate manner in order to ensure compliance with WIN clearly established Workforce Investment Act performance goals – monthly, quarterly, and annually.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and four (4) years of professional business relations services and recruitment experience; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.

  • Knowledge of Virtual One Stop (VOS) System for data input and tracking.

  • Ability to work with diverse team members internally and externally on behalf of the AJC.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
