Full-time employees at Southwest work 37.5 hours per week. Benefits include health insurance, annual and sick leave, tuition assistance and retirement. Salary is commensurate with colleges pay scale. Position Summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural, public, open—access college. Working under the general supervision of the Director of Externally Funded Programs and the Association Vice President of Workforce Development, Economic Development and Continuing Education. Provides day to day management for the career center and coordinates service delivery of the required American Job Center partners and service providers

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for organizing, planning, supervising and coordinating all activities regarding Career Center services throughout the County in accordance with Workforce Investment Network, local, state and federal policies and guidelines.
  • Supervises the daily operations of the Career Center personnel. Supervises the direction and assignment of duties, evaluates work performance, administers discipline and makes hiring, promotion and discharge recommendations for assigned Career Center personnel.
  • Supervises the delivery of career development services including but not limited to career planning, workshops, case management and networking sessions with employers and job seekers.
  • Monitors assigned staff and/or clients, including driving to various work sites throughout the County.
  • Monitors Career Center activities to ensure staff is providing services for clients who register and receive grant funding.
  • Works with partners, community groups and organizations in delivering career service activities and programs throughout the County.
  • Assists management in the development and implementation of Career Center program policies and procedures to ensure program goals and objects are achieved.
  • Monitors the operation and maintenance of a case management tracking system to find efficient solutions and to ensure proper operation and care is maintained. Receives, investigates and recommends solutions to problems, reports and/or complaints.
  • Creates and prepares a variety of correspondence, memos and reports, and distributes to various internal departments and external agencies.
  • Utilizes various computer applications to perform various job functions including preparing project status and financial reports.
  • Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with management, staff and general public on a variety of issues and concerns.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Education or closely related field and four (4) years of professional experience in human services and/or social work; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics
  • Proficient use of MS Office software.
  • Knowledge of Virtual One Stop (VOS) System for data input and tracking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to calculate accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and manage the office effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work with diverse team members internally and externally on behalf of the AJC.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
