This posting is for 2 positions: 1 located at the Hickory Hill Branch; 1 located at the Walnut Grove Branch. Full-time employees at Southwest work 37.5 hours per week. Benefits include health insurance, annual and sick leave, tuition assistance and retirement. Salary is commensurate with colleges pay scale. Position Summary

Working under the general supervision of the Career Center Manager. Provides services to jobseekers by facilitating the career planning and work development plans at the designated career center.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works with training providers to assist job seekers with making educational and vocational choices. Promotes life long career development to job seekers and works with employers to aid in job placement and development.
  • Collects, organizes and analyzes information about clients through records, tests, interviews, aptitude and interest sources and uses the data/information to help determine the client’s eligibility and suitability for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services.
  • Conducts intake/registration interviews and records information in case notes, including recording notes in Virtual One Stop (VOS) database. Identifies the client’s interests, skills, needs, barriers and resources through active listening.
  • Recommends community groups and other resources to meet the identified needs and assists the client in removing identified barriers by developing a plan of service for each client.
  • Develops a written plan of action in conjunction with the client and uses appropriate communication techniques to meet client and employer staffing needs.
  • Conducts assessments and skill inventories as needed. Assists client in job sear by coaching them to utilize print and technology-based resources to gather information about the labor market, jobs and training.
  • Provides knowledge to clients on how to find job openings, develop effective resumes’ and participate in mock interviews and other strategies that support job seekers. Provides instruction to clients on topics related to career planning and development and prepares clients to meet specific employer needs or preferences.
  • Participates in job fairs through the County. Collects employment verification and other information from employers as needed.
  • Performs as a team member ready and willing to perform in the best interest of the jobseeker. Identifies outside agencies based on client assessment and makes referrals on their behalf, including arranging services through cooperative agreements with other human service organizations within the community.
  • Maintains assigned enrollment and exit goals in addition to performance goal reporting monthly, quarterly and annually.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with three (3) years work experience in Social Services or closely related field; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.

  • Proficient use of MS Office software.
  • Knowledge of Virtual One Stop (VOS) System for data input and tracking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Ability to calculate accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and manage the office effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work with diverse team members internally and externally on behalf of the AJC.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
