Position Summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural, public, open—access college. This is a full-time position working under the general supervision of the Registrar. The Transcript Analyst is responsible for evaluating official incoming college transcripts from other institutions sent to the college by students. He/she may travel between the two (2) main campuses (Macon and Union) and site locations. He/she may be required to work some evenings and weekends as needed.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience in customer service involving information relating to problem solving analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics

Knowledge of business English and mathematical processes.

Knowledge of catalog and other guidelines for evaluating transcripts.

Knowledge of various college functions and courses offered.

Knowledge of college policies and procedures.

Knowledge of database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software.

Skill in organization and conflict resolution.

Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.

Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.

Ability to perform some administrative and clerical tasks.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manual; must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from large groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Physical demands include the ability to sit and talk or hear; ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; ability to occasionally stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
