Position Summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural, public, open—access college. This is a temporary part-time support position within the Food Services department.

The Food Service Worker works under general supervision of Director.

Work performed in short order cooking, routine kitchen work, and waiting on customers and performing related work as required.

The Food Service Worker is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend as assigned.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares foods such as grilled and hot-line foods.

• Cleans kitchen, dining room, trays, food carts, and other kitchen equipment as needed.

• Operates a cash register.

• Takes orders and serves customers.

• May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Successful completion of the eighth grade.

Some experience in food preparation and serving the public.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics

• Knowledge of modern methods, materials, and equipment used in food service.

• Ability to prepare simple foods such as sandwiches.

• Ability to operate a cash register.

• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public and other employees.
