Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural, public, open—access college. This is a full-time position at Southwest Tennessee Community College. The Director of Financial Aid serves as administrator for the College’s student financial aid programs. He/she plans, develops and administers services, policies, programs and activities in an effort to promote access to higher education as part of the College’s mission and strategic outcomes.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administers the verification process and awarding of all Federal Financial Aid programs including Federal Pell Grant, SEOG, and Academic Competitiveness Grant programs.
  • Contributes, maintains and updates the College’s financial aid policies, processes, procedures and strategies to further the College’s progress toward meeting overall strategic plan objectives and that all are student-centered and support student success.
  • Counsels students and parents by assisting them through the financial aid application process.
  • Creates an environment in the Financial Aid Office that is courteous, professional and service oriented with an emphasis on “student care”.
  • Oversees the management of Financial Aid’s information and computer systems while maintaining the integrity of the Banner system for awarding and processing student financial aid awards.
  • Advances the use of information and communication technology for processing aid, submitting reports, and monitoring the progress of students. Maintain the integrity of the financial aid processes and data to ensure a division of labor within the area of financial aid and fiscal operations.
  • Administers the verification process and awarding of all State of Tennessee Financial Aid programs.
  • Manages effectively a large case load in an accurate and timely manner which includes accountability in verification, paperwork, error rates; student and parent office visits, and other duties to meet team goals for accurate awarding and excellent customer service.
  • Coordinates and oversees the compilation of data for annual funding application and fiscal operations report. Completes the College’s federal application for financial aid.
  • Coordinates the preparation and maintenance of financial aid records and files used to award financial aid to students from all funding sources for audits and program reviews.
  • Serves as the College’s representative in securing and administering local, state and federal student financial aid programs.
  • Maintains current knowledge of state and federal funding programs, policies and regulations, and other requirements by external authorities through reading and reviewing documentation, professional memberships, attending conferences and workshops.
  • Participates in state, federal and professional association workshops and conferences to remain current in financial aid rules and regulations and to disseminate this information to all of the College’s staff who works with financial aid. May perform other duties as assign.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Federal Aid Program regulations; provides high standard of customer service when assisting students with problem resolution. Seek input from alternate authority if necessary.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Three (3) years’ experience.
