Position Title Athletics Work Study Student
Department STCC-Financial Aid (SA)
Position Summary

The work study students will work under close supervision of the Athletics Department. The Athletic Department is looking for work study students to work as Baseball Student Workers, Basketball Equipment Manages, Basketball Office Workers, Men’s & Women’s Basketball Managers, Training Room Workers and Student Office Workers. The duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting with game day preparations, practice workouts and performing other duties assigned.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting the Athletics Department with game day preparations, practice workouts and other assigned duties in a professional manner.

Baseball Student Worker
Assist Head Men’s Baseball Coach helping with a variety of on/off field tasks; such as help to maintain baseball field: raking, cutting, watering and lining set up and take down of any equipment needed or used during practices and official games and maintain practice/game day duties.

Basketball Equipment Manages
Distribute practice and game uniforms, monitor daily operation of equipment room, assist with collecting and cleaning of uniforms. Must be able to travel with team and all events.

Basketball Office Workers
Assist Head Coach with day to day operations, answer phones, file papers, some typing and change bulletin boards in the hall and locker rooms.

Men’s & Women’s Basketball Managers
Assist with the men’s and women’s basketball team, game day preparations and practices. Must be able to travel with team and all events.

Student Office Workers
Assist the Head Women’s Softball/ Sports Information Office greeting visitors, helping with a variety of office tasks including: light typing, in/outgoing correspondence, answering multi-line phones, taking messages, operating fax, copier, printer and shredding documents. Student will also assist in working with softball, baseball, and basketball statistics.

Training Room Workers
Assist Head Coach with injuries to student-athletes, ice and heat treatment, whirlpool treatment and some cleaning of equipment. Student will be trained to perform minor treatments.

Required Qualifications

Only students who have received an award for federal work study can apply for this position.

Some baseball/basketball knowledge.

Some computer knowledge is preferable

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics

Basic knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Application, Microsoft Word Applications.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Ability to work independently, take verbal or written instructions and follow directions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, campus community, and public.

Confidentiality of records and information is required, as well as a display of professional behavior.
