Position Title Technician - Campus Safety (Work Study)
Department STCC-Financial Aid (SA)
Position Summary

The work study students will work under close supervision of the Assistant Director of Public Safety. The work study student will patrol facilities or man a post as instructed, serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime; report suspicious activity and or criminal acts which may be a threat to students, faculty/staff and college property.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Patrols the campus by foot.

Escorts student, staff and faculty.

Issues citations for traffic and parking violation.

Maintains close communications with Police Officer and dispatching personnel, using two-way radios.

Performs clerical duties.

Directs traffic.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics

Basic knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Ability to operate portable/fixed communications devices such as portable radios, telephones, base station radios, public address system(s), etc.

Ability to perform duties firmly, tactfully, and with respect for the Constitutional rights of others.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Ability to work independently, take verbal or written instructions and follow directions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, campus community, and public.

Confidentiality of records and information is required, as well as a display of professional behavior.
