Title Coordinator
Position Title Specialist, Career Services & Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Department MSCC-Public Service Admin
Position Summary

The Career Services Specialist will conduct career service activities and facilitate job placement information and support for students, alumni, the college and employers. The goal of this position is to ensure students, alumni and employers are aware of and utilizing Career Services to assist with post-program employment. This position will also work closely with the Division of Quality Assurance and Performance Funding to collect and report employment information for TBR purposes. The Career Services Specialist is also expected to work closely with appropriate individuals in the Student Services Division to provide appropriate career services and job opportunity information.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides basic career services, outreach, and job placement information for students, alumni, and employees.
2. Provides resume, job search, application, and interview preparation assistance to students and alumni.
3. Conducts career assessment activities.
4. Provides administrative duties including answering phone calls, data entry, Excel spreadsheet management, and assistance to the Vice President of Marketing and Campus Activities.
5. Initiates and follows-up with employer inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
6. Completes phone surveys with employers to inquire about satisfaction of MSCC programs and graduates. Performs data entry of survey results into database.
7. Assists with implementation of Career Services activities, including but not limited to: group workshops, career fairs, on-campus interviews, and interview preparation workshops.
8. Assists with marketing of Career Services events and workshops in coordination with the Student Services Division.
9. Maintains the College Central website, including job postings, student resume upload assistance, and employer records.
10. Assists the Head Soccer Coach with coaching Women’s Soccer.
11. Responsible for organizing and conducting the concession stands at all official intercollegiate athletic events under the guidance of the Athletics Director.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

3. Maintain acceptable overall attendance record, to include department meetings, all-employee meetings/trainings as required. Ensure appropriate notification to supervisor for absences, and ensure that work is covered. Be flexible in work schedule when needed.
4. Produce quantity of work necessary to meet job requirements.
5. Demonstrate the ability and willingness to handle new assignments, changes in procedures and business requirements. Identify what needs to be done and take appropriate action.
6. Complete assigned work; meet deadlines without reminders/follow-up from supervisor or others.
7. Perform work conscientiously with a high degree of accuracy.
8. Participate in a minimum of 20 hours professional development activities to remain current with industry trends and advancements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social science discipline, human resources, business, marketing, or a related area, or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of experience in a teaching, academic advising, career readiness, or workforce development environment.
• Demonstrated experience coaching soccer at the college or high school level.

Preferred Qualifications

• High-level comfort using PC and Microsoft Office software especially Excel, as well as peripherals like webcams, printers, and scanners.
• Demonstrated history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
• Excellent written, verbal, group presentation, and communication skills. Prefer experience in organizing, writing and presenting reports and presentations.
• Precise attention to detail and ability to follow explicit directions, processes, and policies.
• Excellent communication skills along with a helpful disposition necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to multi-task and handle a high pressure environment with timeline pressures.
• Must be able to work a varied work schedule to accommodate the needs of the adult student.
• Knowledge of job markets as applicable to placement responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to assist in recruiting, coaching, and administering a college soccer program.
